My Story

I co-own First Priority Heating and Cooling with my husband, Tim, a business he started 20 years ago that I joined in 2018. With my background in real estate and mortgage processing, I brought strategic insights to the company. I restructured the business to become a woman-owned minority enterprise, transforming our approach and positioning. Recognizing the competitive nature of the residential market, I strategically pivoted our company towards commercial and multi-family projects, demonstrating my entrepreneurial adaptability.

Partnership with Builders Avenue

I describe Builders Avenue as an extraordinary blessing for my business. Through their support, I connected with Kyle, who provided critical resources and professional network introductions, including valuable bank referrals. Kyle also introduced me to Mejai, a mentor who taught me essential skills in job estimating and bidding strategies. The organization provides consistent weekly mentorship and support, helping me develop my business capabilities. I emphatically credit Builders Avenue for my current business success. I don’t believe I would be where I am today without their intervention.

Our Shared Impact

My business journey exemplifies overcoming systemic challenges through strategic planning and resilience. My recent million-dollar contract to update HVAC systems for over 100 units of an apartment complex showcases our company’s capabilities in navigating complex commercial contracts–a project I bid and won with Mejai’s guidance. By confronting banking obstacles and industry discrimination, I have expanded into providing HVAC in new construction projects in partnership with large regional home builders. My commitment to networking and strategic pivoting has not only grown my business but also serves as an inspirational model for minority entrepreneurs in the HVAC industry, demonstrating that persistent innovation and strategic thinking can overcome significant barriers.
